Uninvited Guests

I haven't blogged in a while and I have a good reason...

LICE!

Run for your lives!!!!!!!!!!!

Ick.

Ok, so right after mother's day weekend Kenzie comes home and tells me that her friend Abigail has lice. Lovely, I cringed. I checked her head daily, and saw nothing. The end of school comes up and Abigail wants to have a sleepover for her birthday, great! So, Kenzie spends the night there. Not 3 days after, she starts scratching and there the little boogers are!

So we do a lice treatment on both M & M. I do heat treatments and cleaning on all stuffies, blankets, pillows, mattresses, throw pillows, ect. A week later (which was yesterday) we found 2 lice in Maddie's head and a ton of nits in Mack's and MINE!

So, my mom spent the day doing lice treatments on me and the girls. All beds have been stripped for heat treatments and cleaning. Deja Vu anyone?

Ugh, I REALLY hope they're gone now.

I'm afraid to say this so... I really hope Howard doesn't get it. He has a LOT of body hair and o.m.g. Say it ain't so?!

Extreme Couponing

I am officially addicted to Extreme Couponing on TLC. If you haven't seen it, go, now, find it. I'll wait.

Amazing show, has taught me a ton! I have to find a way to take care of my family plus my parents, so 4 adults and 3 children on a very limited budget. Extreme Couponing is my key to do that. So I am starting it as of this Sunday when I attack coupon circulars in my Sunday paper.

I have been couponing for years off and on but I did my first big coupon grocery store run yesterday at my favorite local grocery store HEB. They always have amazing sales, in store coupons and everyday low prices.

My Purchases include this meal deal to the left. You buy 2 packages of Ball Park Franks and get 2 cans of chili, HEB Brand Coke, HEB squirt ketchup and Borden shredded cheese.
They always have a display of their meal deals with all the items put together. And naturally, they put their most expensive ball park franks in the display. However, when I walked to where the hot dogs normally are I found bun length Ball Park Franks for 2/$3. I printed out a coupon for $.75 off of 2 packages of the hot dogs from Ball Park's website. So for all the merchandise on the meal deal I spent $2.25!!

My purchases:
-2 Gallons of milk
-One Dozen Eggs
-3 whole fryer chickens (at $.87 a lb)
-2 Packages of bun length Ball Park Franks
-8 oz Borden Shredded cheese
-2L of Coke
-2 cans of Texas Style Chili
-20 oz Squirt bottle ketchup
-1.5lbs of Bananas
-2 Packages of Chips Ahoy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Total before coupons: $37.28
After coupons I paid: $20.66

Total Savings: $16.62

I am insanely proud of myself. And this is just with one printed coupon and then in store coupons and savings.
I will do this consistently, and I WILL save us a ton of money dag nabit!

Wish me luck!

The graduate

On May 21st Howard graduated from college.
He was the first member of the West family to ever graduate.

And I wasn't there.
I was at home with the kids, all 4 of us were sick as dogs.

Even though I wasn't there, I am so proud of him.
